What do we do?
Turning Point is Thumb Area Psychological Services' Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in a clinical setting, in their home, school and community depending on their individual needs.
ABA is the science of studying behavior and applying data supported techniques to increase or decrease behaviors that are meaningful to the child and the child's social environment.
A highly qualified team of professionals consisting of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), and Behavior Technicians work closely to evaluate, teach, and monitor individualized goals for each child.
Turning Point professionals provide intensive services to children in a clinical setting, in their school and community. We also support the families of those children both in the clinic through parent team meetings and in the home/community.
At Turning Point we teach children:
- How to ask for what they want (Mand)
- How to say what things are (Tact)
- How to answer questions (Intraverbal)
- How to follow instructions (Listener Responding)
- How to imitate others
- What others say (Echoic) & do (Motor Imitation)
- How to replace problem behaviors with appropriate ones
- How to do self-help skills including toileting
- Other skills relevant to communication, educational, and social development
Turning Point's unique clinic allows children to learn in a comfortable, fun, learning environment! The clinic includes classrooms, a motor area, an outdoor area, intensive teaching areas, and an adult daily skills room.
Highly Trained Staff
At Turning Point, we take great pride in providing the best services we can. One of the ways we ensure the quality of our service is through training motivated, positive staff members.
Our clinic has highly trained Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) both in clinic and who work as Family Guidance Providers.
We have more BCBA/BCaBAs than anywhere in the area!
